Athletics
Athletics
The Athletics skill is a Core skill every character receives in their starting package. A character’s Athletic skill represents their general ability to overcome physical adversity. Not to be confused with Physique which is solely dedicated to one’s physical strength and health, Athletics represents one’s ability to apply their fitness to challenging activities such as climbing, swimming, or jogging. Players with high Athletics typically are great at athletic sports and activities, able to complete these challenges in shorter times and do so less exhausted than their less-skilled counterparts.
Athletics covers numerous sports and activities such as: long-distance running, swimming, and climbing. Athletics does not include other physical activities that directly impact physical strength or endurance such as sprinting, aerobics, or weight lifting as those activities would fall under Physique.
Skill Levels
Apprentice 1-25
The Athlete is challenged by simple obstacles and may not even be able to complete the task without a quick pause or two if they complete it at all. These Athletes show signs of struggle within minutes of prolonged activity and cannot exceed ten minutes of strenuous activity before taking a break.
Journeyman 26-50
The Athlete is now showing signs of being above average, such as a faster runner or strong swimmer. Slightly complex or intense obstacles like races are able to be completed without a break most of the time. These Athletes normally do not show signs of struggle until after ten minutes of continuous activity and cannot exceed forty minutes of strenuous activity before taking a break.
Expert 51-75
Athletes are now noticeably faster and unhindered by challenges that would halt lesser Athletes. Their bodies have reached a high level of physical conditioning that many are envious of. Experts do not show signs of struggle until after a solid hour of continuous activity and cannot exceed two and a half hours of strenuous activity before taking a break.
Master 76-100
Master Athletes are only challenged by marathons and are close to the pinnacle of mortal achievements. These Athletes do not show signs of struggle until after two hours of continuous activity and show no limits to what they can do without a break.
