The City Jail of Brickwell

Located directly next to the inside entrance of the city, Saker Keep is the local jail. It tends to be extremely full of petty thieves and trespassers. The keep is small and managed by the Lysium Military stationed at Tawley Tower.

Saker Keep is the city jail, located directly adjacent to the official entrance to Brickwell. The jail is crowded, inhabited by the so called miscreants of the city. The militia based at Tawley Tower oversee the jail as well as bring in its criminal population. The keep is funded by the Brickwell government which gets its payment in the form of taxes from the city population.

The jail is a rather recent construction compared to the majority of buildings in Brickwell. Due to the extreme overcrowding of the mining town poverty is common and accepted. However poverty breeds crime and petty theft leads to more serious crimes like murderous revenge or political assassinations. Although these more severe crimes are rare, they still occur. Theft, mainly from the government in the form of tax evasion and petty crimes of stolen goods from neighboring houses or job locations are the main reason for imprisonment in Saker Keep. Constructed by the government militia to satisfy the complaining upper class,  the jail has since been as overcrowded as the rest of the city.

Because of its government funding many citizens of Brickwell believe the criminals in Saker Keep are treated better, fed more, than those law abiding citizens in Beggars Hole or the South Warrens. Although this opinion is up to each citizen, as the majority of the upper class as well as political members claim this is extremely false.

Saker Keep is made up of mostly tiny cells only built to contain 1-2 criminals at a time but at the current rate of imprisonment, the cells hold up to 5 or 6 people at a time. Because of this extreme crowding little can be done about the grime and infestations occurring from this issue. Saker Keep is known as one of the filthiest places in Brickwell. Death is common amongst the criminals from sickness rather than violence.

Besides the cells there is only two other rooms within Saker Keep. The first would be the Guard Hall, a small hall filled with small bunks for on break guards as well as a desk or two for the Head Guards that must fill out paperwork for the more important arrests. The second room is the Holding Room, or the area where the more important, or VIP criminals such as politicians or the rich are held. This room is significantly less crowded and extremely clean compared to the normal cells.
