Husbandry
The Husbandry skill is a Core skill every character receives in their starting package. A character’s Husbandry skill represents their general ability to interact and care for fauna. A character with a high Husbandry skill typically is good with animals of all sorts, is knowledgeable about the care and maintenance of said animals, and can even be considered an animal whisperer.
Husbandry covers numerous activities such as: taming, breeding, feeding, and sheltering fauna. Husbandry does not include riding animals as that would be under the Knowledge skill Riding (Animal)
Skill Levels
Apprentice 1-25
A person understands the basic things that a creature needs: food, water, and shelter. They may not understand what is healthy for the animal though. Interactions with animals can be strained, as the animal can easily sense any fear or anxiety the character has. As an Apprentice, a person may know the basic proper care for a single type of domesticated animal. They know nothing of wild and/or exotic animals beyond what they’re called.
Journeyman 26-50
Interactions with animals get better, to the point that a character is able to know how to properly tame a single, specific, type of domesticated animal. When regarding other types of domesticated animals, they now have an understanding of the basic proper care. Wild and/or exotic animals are still very dangerous to the character, who may not understand what they’ve done to agitate the creature. But they are able to easily identify how the wild and/or exotic animal would be dangerous.
Expert 51-75
When it comes to domesticated animals, a character is able to understand how to properly breed a single type. Their knowledge on other types of domesticated animals is extensive enough that they know how to control or even tame them. A character’s familiarity with a single type of wild and/or exotic animal reaches the point that they could tame them, as well as provide proper basic care. Knowledge of other wild and/or exotic animals extends to understanding what agitates them and how the character may have agitated them.
Master 76-100
A Master of Husbandry is able to properly breed their one choice of wild and/or exotic animal that they’ve learned how to tame. The character becomes knowledgeable enough to be able to tame a couple of different wild and/or exotic animals and give them proper basic care.
