Inactive Players

Players and Characters becoming inactive is unavoidable. This article will explain what happens when a Player or Character becomes inactive, what makes them inactive, and how that affects you – an active Player. This article will also explain how you can make your Character or Player account inactive if you wish.

Player Account Inactivity

Player accounts become Inactive if the account has not been logged into after 30 days. Any logged-in account can view the last time and date an account was logged in by checking the account profile. If a Moderator notices that a Player account is Inactive they will change the Player accounts status to ‘Inactive’ in their Spirit Access threads and all of their Character accounts will be deemed Inactive as well (see below). Besides this, this is the only change on the account, and the Player can log back in at any time and be considered Active again. If you think your account was deemed Inactive and would like to reactivate, simply notify a Moderator and we will make the changes in your Player and Character Spirit Access Threads.

If you know you are leaving the site for a long period of time you can request to be Inactive by simply messaging any Moderator. They will then make the changes to your Player and Character Accounts. If you know you are leaving it is also a good idea to note this inactivity in your Player Sheet if able. If you are taking a leave of absence and plan on being back and do not want a Moderator to mark you Inactive, you must place a notice in your Player Sheet that includes a date when you will return. None of your Characters will be deemed Inactive during this time period. If 30 days after the date comes and goes, the account may be deemed Inactive.

Character Account Inactivity

Character accounts become Inactive after 30 days of not posting. Unless otherwise stated OOC that the Character will be away for that long of a period, the account is considered abandoned. A Character account can be labeled as Inactive even if the Player account is still active. If a Moderator notices the account has not posted in over 30 days they will PM the account and the Player account to make sure they are truly inactive. If no reply is received within 7 days the Character account will be deemed Inactive and this will be noted in the Character Spirit Access Thread.

If you are an active Player and wish to make one of your Characters Inactive while keeping the others Active, simply PM a Moderator and we can make these changes. If you, as the Player, are taking a leave of absence for more than 30 days – see above for how to avoid Inactivity.

Abandonded Threads

If you are writing a thread with another Character that you think has gone inactive – this thread is not doomed! There are options to complete it without the Inactive Character.

First, you must wait 30 days since the last post of the Character in the thread in question. It is encouraged that you PM them during this 30 day period if you are worried about inactivity. If 30 days have passed you must then send another PM and if you receive no reply within 7 days then you may continue the thread without them – either by continuing to post or by closing the thread unfinished and submit it for grading.

A reactivated Character cannot rejoin a thread that continued without them unless they receive express permission from all participating Characters.

You must attempt to contact the Inactive Character through the site (not just discord) before you can continue the thread without them. It is recommended that if you deem a Character Inactive through the above process that you let a Moderator know so they can officially mark the account as Inactive.

Reactiviting an Account

If your account was marked as Inactive you are always welcome back at any time. Simply PM a Moderator that you have returned and which Character accounts you would like to be reactivated. Once we receive that PM we will reactivate your account.

If during your inactivity, threads that your Character was participating in have continued without you, you cannot rejoin them without permission from all participants.

You must update your Character Sheets with rent costs if a Season has changed during your Inactivity before you are able to begin posting again in the new Season.
