Intuition
The Intuition skill is a Core skill every character receives in their starting package. A character’s Intuition skill represents their general ability to gain insightful knowledge on another person’s intentions or emotional state. Characters with high Intuition typically can spot those who wish not to be seen or see through the lies of others.
Intuition covers several activities such as: detecting lies and manipulation, seeing through poker faces and reading emotions, discovering forgery, and spotting stealthy beings. Intuition does not include covering up your own emotions as that would be the Discipline skill.
Forgery specifically can be determined either with Intuition if one knows the person who is being forged (and thus knowing if the handwriting is off, if the word choice is strange, etc) or with Decryption if they do not know the person by using other documents to compare or otherwise find evidence for fraud.
Skill Levels
Apprentice 1-25
An Apprentice in Intuition can only spot the smallest of lies and manipulation. Most of the time Apprentices can spot such acts when they are being done by someone close to them, such as a friend or family member. However, the Apprentice is mostly focusing on learning body language and understanding people’s tells and emotions. An Apprentice would only be able to spot small, unplanned lies from people they know well. Long cons and strangers are still out of their reach.
Journeyman 26-50
Journeymen in Intuition are growing adept at understanding body language and abnormal emotional responses. Lies, especially of the white or unplanned kind, are more obvious to them than others. While long cons and well-planned lies are still out of their reach, they may be able to spot small lies or manipulations within these plans.
Expert 51-75
Experts now have a high level of Intuition within their daily lives. Small lies are instantly detectable by them even when strangers are involved. Medium lies are mostly detectable, especially when performed by subjects known by the Expert. Long cons and well-planned lies are able to be sorted out with some effort. Poker faces against the Expert generally fail to depend on the Deception skill of the subject. Forgery is mostly able to be detected if it is specifically being looked for – only if the Expert knows the writing of the original subject.
Master 76-100
Masters understand body language and emotional tells extremely well – even those of strangers. Poker faces against them fail more often than not and forgery against someone the Master is close to is easily detectable. While most high-level lie and manipulation detections will have to beat a roll against the Deception skill, Masters are more likely than not to win that battle.
