Paethsmouth

Published by admin on

The tiny town of Paethsmouth was founded by a few traveling humans who decided to follow the river north and see where it went. These settlers were the first to discover the northern shore of Winhem. After their discovery and settlement of Paethsmouth, it was a while before the village received any real travel. Once the two major cities of Lysium and Avakaron made contact, and soon, trade – the village became a major influence in the water-based trade routes between the cities. While their population only grew slightly, they are a rather wealthy town for their size due to the income from the traveling sailors that pour in rather regularly. Because of the village’s important location, at the mouth of the Tawley River and the northern ocean, the Lysium Military has placed a Garrison of men within the town to keep an eye on the ships that pass through. Many ships stop at the village to restock on water and food, and to give the sailors a day on land after their days on the water.

While the town is small, it is one of the only settlements in the Great Plains that have high populations of Hellbends along with Humans, because of its middle-man position between the two capital city trade routes.

Locations

North Tawley Garrison – Due to the high-value location of the village, the Lysium Military has placed a garrison of men within the town, building a guard tower to house them. 25 soldiers are garrisoned here, a significant chunk of the entire cities population. Most live cramped within the living quarters of the tower, minus those who have married within the village and moved into homes and families of their own.

Sailor’s Junction – The tavern and inn of the village is usually a quiet place, the only place for villagers to find a hot meal outside of their own homes. The tavern’s main income and attraction come from the sailors who find their way onto the shore and decide to reside overnight on land rather than one more night on their ships. Nights like these are lively in the tavern, as many young women of the village pour in to see the new men and young boys come to wonder at tales of the sea. The tavern is located directly next to the guard tower.

Tiny Chapel – The village’s chapel is located near the center of town, by the water well. The village is an Anorian God place of worship, mainly focusing on the God of Water and Ocean, but contains symbols for all Gods – including a small one of the Old God just in case. The chapel is a popular place for the locals, but even more so for the sailors who haven’t been to a proper place of worship out on the sea.
