History

The Humans are the only Race that existed on Siliren before the portal from Anore opened. Although much Human history was lost in The Change Days and the Universe War following, it is believed that the Humans were the masters of their entire world, with no God or Gods that ruled over them. They controlled the beasts and the earth, but their stubbornness and greed ruined their great world-wide empire and threw them into poverty, death, and ruins. Much of their population was lost when they fell, and before they were able to come back together as one people, The Change Days came upon them and they were forced into unity to try and expel the invaders. But their war with the intruders only resulted in more population loss and the seemingly permanent isolation from the rest of the races.

The Humans are the only race that existed on Siliren prior to The Change Days. Living in a world created and then abandoned by an unknown God, the Humans rose up to control the world around them, manipulating everything from the landscape to animals and controlling the land, air, and seas. The Human population used to be massive and extremely advanced, with technology that could not even be imagined in today’s world. But the greed and rivalries of Humans led to their downfall even before The Change Days, and they battled each other into oblivion. Those who rose from the ashes of that battle had lost much. The population had been destroyed and only a few remained. Technologies were lost to fire and destruction, and soon memories faded. Slowly the Humans began to rebuild in a more desolate landscape than they were used to. They had to relearn everything about the world and how to live in it. The populations grew steadily and cities were built anew, and it seemed the Humans had learned to thrive once more.

Then The Change Days were upon them, plunging the Humans into an unknown chaos like they had never seen before. Their first instinct was to defend their homeland and their way of life from these new intruders. War with the Anorians was instantaneous, and it seemed for a while that the Humans had the upper hand. But as the Rigen from Anore pulsed through the world and made its own changes, the Humans grew confused and frightened by the magic and what it created. Soon the Anorians took hold of this magic they were accustomed to and willed it to fight with them, quickly overtaking the Humans in the Universe War.

With their numbers once again severely depleted and the race at serious risk of extinction, they fled as far as they could, away from the Anorians and their portal. They made it across the sea and into Winhem, a continent they such named, before they decided to settle at the shores of the Glancing Giant Lake, in the middle of the Great Plains. Those who were not in the original settlement party that founded Lysium soon found their way to the city over the years. Eventually, the near-complete population of Humans left on Siliren lived within Lysium, where their numbers soon began to grow once more.

Now humans populate the entirety of the Great Plains of Winhem, with Lysium acting as the capital city of the Human race. Numerous towns, villages, and settlements dot the plains, and humans can even be found on the east side of Winhem, across the White Wood Forest, living among their Hellbend neighbors.

Biology

Physical Appearance

Humans are a bipedal race, with two arms and two legs, that sport ten fingers and ten toes, most notably they have thumbs that separate them from the wild animals of the world. Human skin is very diverse and can be a deep brown, near black, to a pasty white and all the colors in between. Hair color and eye color are just as diverse, with hair being blonde, brown, black and even red, and eyes being blue, green, hazel, brown, or amber. Men can grow facial hair, while women can not.

Reproduction

Women become sexually mature at the age of 13-16 where they start having periods every 28 days. Men become sexually mature around these ages as well. Once born, babies require their mother’s care for many years, and for the first year or so live solely on breast milk supplied by the mother. Single babies are the most common for human women, though with enough chance twins and triplets can be achieved. Any numbers higher than this are extremely rare and almost always end in the death of the mother, and/or one or more deaths of the children.

Society

Language

The whole of the Human population speaks the Common tongue, the language that existed prior to The Change Days. It is believed that once the race was so diverse they had numerous languages across the world, but all have since died out and only Common remains. They are the only sentient race on Siliren that speaks this language originally.

Family Life

Because Human biology required Humans to take care of their young for such a long period of time after birth, families tend to be quite close. A typical household includes a father, a mother, and the children, with contact with grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins a commonality. Of course, abandonment, mistreatment, fighting, and death can divide families, and broken homes or orphaned children are not uncommon.

Holidays

Not many holidays are celebrated by the Humans as a whole. The most common of holidays are Birthdays, days of the year in which an individual was born. Some Humans throw large celebrations, while others think not much of the date.

The anniversary of The Change Days are remembered infamously by the Humans and remains the main reason why the Human race still actively dislikes the Anorians, despite the years passed. Some communities have a day of mourning, while most others simply remember the event and pass the stories onto the younger generations.

Religion

Almost all of the Human race are ‘atheists’ or versions of it. The mass belief is the complete disregard for any God-like being and they almost all reject the current Anorian Gods and Goddesses. Some do not believe they exist at all, while many have accepted the existence, but still reject the Gods themselves. There are a smaller, but still significant, populations of Humans that worship the Old God, or the God that once prevailed over the world but has since disappeared. Some Humans, called Anored Humans, have completely accepted the Anorian Gods and Goddesses and worship them openly. These types of Humans are rare and looked down upon by others of the race, if not openly hated or mocked.
