Peacekeepers
Individuals who enforce the laws of Avakaron. Most of their day involves settling arguments between two or more parties, or assisting the community with minor tasks during their patrols. While every peacekeeper is trained to handle violent situations, rarely do any of them every experience such a situation.
History
For a long time, the citizens of Avakaron were able to peacefully regulate themselves and handle any disputes that arose. While there were occasions that required the attention of the Champion Sect, the Hellbend community as a whole were capable of banning together for what was right. As more humans began living in the city, and their influence crept through the community, there was a rise in crime and violence. To make matters worse, the community was no longer as united as they had been before. In response, the Champion Sect established an organization to assist in enforcing the laws when the citizens were unable to do so themselves. The individuals involved in this organization became known as Peacekeepers.
There are currently a little over 500 peacekeepers for the entire city of Avakaron. They patrol every region of the city except for the Ministry of Casters campus. A more specialized portion of peacekeepers, known as the Halcyon, patrol the Ministry of Casters. There are about 20 members in the Halcyon.
A Peacekeeper Uniform
Peacekeepers are provided a uniform that they must maintain themselves. While on patrol, a peacekeeper can be easily identified for wearing the following:
- A white wool cloak with a two-inch rim of navy blue.
- A gray subarmalis with white accents.
- The subarmalis counts as an Expertly crafted leather torso, and has 11 Armor Points.
- Gray pturges with white accents and the Champion Sect insignia sewn into each pturges.
Peacekeeper Initiation
To become a peacekeeper, a character must go to the Tower of Avakaron and apply. A day is scheduled for a veteran peacekeeper to come and perform a series of tests. Most involve questions to measure the character’s understanding of Avakaron law, and being given “what would you do if,” prompts involving real-life incidents that the peacekeepers have had to deal with. Then they are tested on their communication skills, to see how fluent they are in both Rigerian and Common. While being able to read common is not required, new peacekeepers are recommended to learn in case they have to read something that was written in common. Afterwards, the veteran spars with the character to test their ability to handle a violent situation.
