Taheriva Hostel

Published by admin on

The Taheriva family line of Avakaron was one of the four founding family lines of the city. While the family used to be large and spread widely throughout the city, over the most recent generations the family has dwindled significantly, and their line is at risk of extinction.

Being one of the four founding families, the Taheriva Longhouse is located in the center of the city of Avakaron and is a rather large longhouse, similar in structure and shape to the other three founding families, such as the Irdis house. However, because of the small population of family members, the majority of the longhouse is empty.

The elders – and therefore leaders – of the family,  Aikorkem, Dastan, and Rasul decided to turn these empty rooms into a profitable business. The family now rents out their empty rooms as a Hostel for newcomers to the city. While many of the residents of the Hostel are Human visitors from The Great Plains, the family especially enjoys Hellbend visitors from the Eastern Steppes and the towns and villages within them, hoping to recruit them via marriage into their line to help save it from devastation. While this last fact is publicly known – or rather, assumed – the family is not overbearing about their persuasion, hoping instead to simply be so nice and inviting to newcomers, that they never want to leave.

Because of this, staying at the Hostel – no matter the race – is almost always an enjoyable experience. The elders and the other family members are the pinnacles of hospitality and as long as the guest is just as respectful, there are usually not issues.

Staying at the Hostel is somewhat cheaper than say the Ministry Dorms, and the location welcomes any person. The family charges 9 copper per night for a room – and each room can hold two persons. This means that many residents and visitors share their room with a stranger. This is common practice within the city but may seem strange to visiting humans.

The rooms are simple and small. They are 600sq.ft and usually a perfect square. They hold two beds, two chests with provided keys, two desks, two end tables, two lamps with provided oil. The residents are also allowed access to the common room of the longhouse that has a hearth they are welcome to use for cooking and other needs.

The family is very social and it is not uncommon for residents to be drawn into family conversations when in the common room. While guests are left alone when inside their own rooms, the family enjoys the company at all times and likes to get to know their residents.
