Distance Travel

Travel plays a crucial role in the daily life of the people of Siliren. This article is to be used as a guide on calculating how long a trip across Siliren would take depending on where the PC is travelling to and from, and what method of transportation is available to them.

Above is the travel map of Winhem. This map shows notable settlements throughout the region as well as established trade routes and their exact locations. Travelling on established trade routes will always be quicker – and safer – rather than ‘roughing it’ through unmarked territory.

Most travellers will be travelling by horseback or horse-driven caravan. While the most common form of long-distance travel in Siliren, it is not the most efficient available. The average horse and rider can travel up to 30 miles per day. Check out the Horses articles to see specific mileage for different breeds of horses available in Siliren. The average Horse drawn caravan can travel up to 50 miles a day.

The fastest form of travel through Siliren currently is by ship, either through ocean or river waters. The average passenger ship can travel up to 80 miles per day. However the wealthy – or the lucky – might be able to travel on the world’s fasted ship which can move up to 100 miles a day. This is currently only achievable by one ship, the Nightingale, created by Avakaron. This method of transportation, however, is not viable for some land routes.

Finally, for shorter distances, walking is an option. The average healthy adult can walk up to 10 miles a day on land, and swim at 2 miles an hour only for time periods shorter than two 2 hours. It is extremely dangerous to walk for long-distance travel, and death would be likely.

Below is a table that shows possible travel times via different methods of transportation between two settlements in Winhem. Feel free to use these quick select numbers if you plan on your PC travelling between those two cities. However, also feel free to plan your route using the grid map above and calculate your own distance travel and method. Remember that each box of the grid represents 100 miles.
