Appearance

Standing at 5’ 9” and weighing 164 lbs., Nikaala appears to be the opposite of a frail woman. Long strands of natural silver-white hair fall past her shoulders, which she mostly has done in a braid or a ponytail. Sharp facial features, gray eyes, an hourglass figure, and a well-toned muscle structure make her a very noticeable woman. When at social conventions, she wears one of six custom made ball-gown dresses, which she has her tailor recycle for six new ball-gowns every season. With her ball-gowns she appears to be 6’ tall due to the high-heeled shoes she’d wear. During her leisure Nikaala wears upper-middle class outfits made from high-quality materials. Her combat outfit is a mixture of steel plates and leathers, allowing her lots of protection while remaining extremely mobile. When permitted, she carries a well-crafted bastard sword. Otherwise, she possesses a concealed ornate dagger of silver, steel, and sapphire that used to be ceremonial before she sharpened it to the point it became functional.

Personality

Nikaala has a very strategic mind, as she has had to navigate around social expectations while accomplishing what she wishes to do. If given the choice, she would pass on attending any party or social gathering that she doesn’t have a personal connection to. She recognizes, and appreciates, hard work to the point her respect for people is dependent on the level of personal effort they have given something. Those that voice any sense of entitlement repeatedly receive Nikaala’s disapproval. As she does not give less than a full effort to anything she does. Having been surrounded by frail, helpless women for most of her life, Nikaala has become a confident, but humble combatant despite some social expectations.

She is thoughtful and rarely rushes into any decision or action. Though she was born to a higher social class Nikaala does not consider herself to be innately above anyone else, and measures herself against others by the scope of their hard work. Nikaala likes to encourage others to take paths that will cause them to grow. Even though she likes to aid people in becoming better versions of themselves, there are only a few individuals that Nikaala has ever truly considered to be a friend.

History

Born to Edwyn and Nia Reyic, Nikaala is the second of four children. The Reyic family has resided in Arkford since nearly the founding. As such, they have ownership over several properties within the Heartford, Market, and Shorwind districts. While the family could be considered “old money” they are not so well off that they can ignore the status of their passive income. Much of the Reyic wealth is invested in the Gomalai District, which involved her father spending a lot of time below Ventham Hill. While Nikaala’s sister, Caroline, is expected to become the next head of the family, there were a few years where Caroline’s health had taken a drastic decline. As such, Nikaala had to break away from her studies of art, literature, and Arkford culture to learn more about the family affairs.

From the ages of eleven to fourteen, Nikaala frequently saw how the regular people, human and Hellbend, lived and worked. It allowed her to recognize what in her life she took for granted, and began to detest the lifestyles of many of her peers. When Caroline recovered from her illness, Nikaala was allowed to choose what sort of life she wanted to pursue. Wanting a life where she could feel that she had earned her place, she chose to take up the study of combat. While her mother does not approve of the change, her father managed to get Nikaala an apprenticeship with a member of the Order of the Golden-Thorns. Under their training regiment, Nikaala became skilled in several weapons, as well as strong enough to attract the harassment of other girls her mother expected her to socialize with.

Once she reached full adulthood, Nikaala began to be nagged by her mother to find a husband, particularly one within the Veliky, to benefit the whole family’s standard of living. Since then, Nikaala has been approached by nearly every available man among the Plethrans of Arkford for a betrothal. While Nikaala entertained the idea of a few of them, none of those men held her interest long. She instead kept most of her focus on her duties as a squire, and has only one friend that supports and understands her. Louis Dupont. It became a rare occurrence to see her without Louis’ company. For they practiced their martial skills and their literary studies together since they were fifteen.
