Rigenology
Rigenology is the study of magic and Rigen. On Anore the use of Rigen was much more intuitive and did not require a deep level of understanding. Once Nilata’s creation flooded the world of Siliren the Humans, Hellbends, and Anorian races have all been working to discover how it functions. It is possible to become an accomplished Rigneologist without learning any spells. The main ways of advancing this skill are to increase the understanding of how Rigen (bonded and/or unbonded) operates as well as improving the intellectual understanding of spells.
Many spells have a minimum requirement of Rigenology before a Caster can attempt to learn them. Rigenology can be self-learned and increased through observation, taught from an instructor, as well as read from a book, though books on Rigenology will be extraordinarily rare. Throughout their studies, Characters will explore how to feel Rigen within their bodies, how to manipulate or move it around within their bodies. Moving Rigen like this is harmless and has no consequences. They will learn how Rigen works as energy, how it exists in the world, and how it replenishes vacancies in bodies and atmospheres. There are two parts of Rigenology – the Intellectual study and the Physical Study.
Intellectual Study
The Intellectual study deals with the ‘scientific’ aspects of Rigen, how it works, how it moves, the different kinds of Spell types (Creative, Personal and Harnessed) as well as the different kinds of Rigen, bonded and unbonded, along with their different locations, personal spell pools, and Atmopools. The Intellectual study also explores how Depletion works within a body and within the Atmosphere.
The Intellectual parts of Rigen are usually learned through spoken word from a teacher or through books and scrolls on the subject. It focuses heavily on how Rigen reacts with the atmosphere and with living beings.
Physical Study
A Physical Study of Rigenology involves the physical feeling of bonded Rigen inside of the user. Bonded Rigen is part of the user, as much as their own blood and organs are. A Physical Study dives deep into how Rigen flows in the body. One who focuses on a Physical Study can learn to observe the Rigen flow within themselves, study its movements, and even, with a lot of focus and will, move the tiniest bit of Rigen within their body. Physical Study does not allow the user to feel Rigen outside of themselves.
Physical Study is usually self-taught by the user exploring their own Rigen through feel and observation.
Related Skills
Auristics – Those who wish to dive deep into an Intellectual Study of Rigen often turn to Auristics which allows the Caster to actually see the Rigen auras around them – but is limited only to bonded Rigen. One may be able to view these Auras and understand in more detail how Rigen flows around and within a living being.
Discipline – Those who wish to focus deeply on the Physical Study of Rigen can find meditation helps their focus when diving into the flow of their Rigen through their bodies.
Skills Levels
1-25 Apprentice
Those in the Apprentice level of Rigenology can begin to feel their own Personal Rigen when concentrating on themselves. They can begin to feel the flow direction and even begin to understand the general amount of Rigen currently within their body. Apprentices can also begin to manipulate their Personal Rigen by moving tiny amounts of it throughout their body, and even altering the natural flow path of Rigen.
Apprentices are only capable of learning Personal Spells. Higher-level Apprentices are just beginning to feel the Atmopool through intense concentration. Usually only during times when abnormal amounts of rigen are present, such as during a Rigen Storm. They will not be able to learn any specifics, however.
26-50 Journeyman
The Journeyman begins to learn how to expel their Personal Rigen outside of their bodies, and how to use Personal Rigen to attracted Unbonded Rigen from the Atmopool along with how to maintain this attraction. At this level, the Journeyman can begin to learn Harnessed Spells.
The Journeyman Rigenologist begins to learn exactly how Unbonded Rigen works and can being to more easily recognize Atmopool Rigen, though this process is still difficult. During their studies, Journeymen also begin to learn about the limits and dangers of Unbonded Rigen.
51-75 Expert
Expert Rigenologists can now passively* recognize drastic movements of Unbonded Rigen in the Atmopool. The Expert can utilize Meditation to feel the more basic flows of atmospheric Rigen.
Experts can begin to learn Creative Spells and can also now passively sense when Bonded Rigen is expelled nearby.
76-100 Master
Masters know an immense amount about Rigen and can passively* sense both their own Personal Rigen and Unbonded Rigen in the Atmopool. They are very accurate when determining their own level of Personal Rigen and can determine when the Atmopool is at healthy, low, or unstable levels of Rigen. They are also able to passively* sense the flow of Unbonded Atmpool Rigen within 5-10 feet of themselves.
100 Level
Characters who reach level 100 in Rigenology are now skillfully capable of inventing a new Spell. This process is NOT automatic and instead is a very long and arduous process involving tons of IC and OOC development. Having 100 skill points in Rigenology is simply the prerequisite required to complete the Spell inventing process.
