Rounds

Many years before The Change Days, Rounds were the currency of the few cities that existed. Although current Rounds are not made with the same material nor hold the same design, the name persisted, a type of hope for the Humans that the world may return to normal. Once large civilization rebuilt itself within the Human population with the city of Lysium, Rounds began to circulate throughout the community, starting with homemade coins. Soon city officials picked up on the exchange and minted the currency with an official design and set value. The coins started out in the capital city of Lysium and spread to the newly built human cities within Winhem. The Hellbend race picked up on the currency at the beginning of the Human-Hellbend alliance and was soon spread to their cities.

Rounds consist of Gold Pieces, Silver Cuts, and Copper Bits, each having a lower value than the last. They are made from cheap metal and only coated, thinly, in the mineral they are named from. This way of production ensures cheap costs so the minting city will not lose money during the process, while still creating a currency that has a visible value. Rounds are mainly made from lightweight and cheap tin though other cheap, and perhaps heavier metals can be used at any time, depending on availability and trade pricing. The coins are manufactured solely at the Lysium Minting Factory.

Pieces, Cuts, and Bits are identical in image except their mineral coating. On one side of each coin is a stamped image of the Glancing Giant lake as seen from Lysium’s coast. A few trees and herding animals surround the shore and one fish can be seen jumping from the waters. This is supposed to represent the richness of the lake and its land and therefore the richness of Lysium. On the other side the crest of Lysium is stamped along with the word, ‘LYSIUM’ arching above it.
