Spirit Moderators

Spirits are the storymakers and moderators of Siliren. They preside over cities and realms and direct and advise players as well as adding to stories and locations to brighten up the lore within their domain and individual PC lives.

World Spirit

The World Spirit is the original creator and founder of Siliren. There is only one World Spirit. The World Spirit has the power to accept or deny any lore creation, place and promote other Spirits, edit anything within any domain or lore topic as well as moderate player characters.

Creation Spirit

A Creation Spirit is a moderator who, under the direction of the World Spirit, moderates and creates on Siliren. Creation Spirits have a lot of range of duties and when a Player becomes a Creation Spirit they choose areas of interest and need on Siliren. These areas become their focus, such as skills, magics, etc. and they receive a higher say in discussions on these areas. Creation Spirits have a range of duties, as well. From creating content for Siliren, running Moderated Threads, grading, and managing the Request Center.

A Creation Spirit is a Travel Spirit that has successfully completed their trial and become a permanent member of the Moderation Team. Creation Spirits are privy to most Siliren Secrets and are allowed much free range in their content creation. Creation Spirits are expected to do their share of duties as well as their share of content creation for the website. They also are expected to be extremely active on the site and discord and attend Moderator Meetings.

Travel Spirit

A Travel Spirit is a Player who has applied for a Moderator position and been accepted by the World Spirit. New moderators do not automatically become a Creation Spirit – rather they become a Travel Spirit with a specific trial duration. While the trial period is usually a Season long, this can differ depending on the Player and current situations. A Travel Spirit is treated similarly to a Creation Spirit and has many of the same duties – the main difference is that Travel Spirits are new and so their work will be heavily scrutinized while the moderators teach the Travel Spirit the way of moderation on Siliren. Travel Spirits will not be privy to Siliren Secrets but are expected to aid the Creation Spirits in their duties such as CS reviews, Grading, Request Center tasks, and even Moderated Threads.

At the end of the trial period, the Travel Spirit will be asked if they would like to become a Creation Spirit. If they choose not to continue, no hard feelings are had and they will return to a regular Player position. If they choose to continue, then the other existing moderators will discuss and vote on promoting the Travel Spirit.

Chat Spirit

A Chat Spirit is any official moderator of Siliren, or any unofficial player given the title by a Moderator. Chat Spirits preside over Chat and enforce its rules. All Chat Spirits are to be listened to and respected in the same degree as on site moderators. They have the power to kick, ban, mute or otherwise warn and punish those within Chat.

Applying to be a Spirit Moderator

Joining the Staff of Siliren is a big step, and it’s taken very seriously by the World Spirit. Currently, a player must be on the site for at least 30 days before they can apply to be a Spirit, but this number will most likely change as the site ages. As for age of the player, there is no minimum. On Siliren you will not be asked any personal information by a Spirit Moderator. Your application will not be affected by age or any other RL information. Instead the World Spirit will look at a players writing level, post and visit frequency, application, chat presence and overall player and moderator opinion. It is required that a player who applies for a Spirit position has access and frequents the Siliren Chat. To apply fill out this Google Form and then PM Bigealien that you have completed it.

Players who apply to be a moderator can apply to be a Chat Spirit or Travel Spirit. Creation Spirits are only awarded to existing Spirits as a promotion. If applying as a Chat Spirit the player will not be an official on site Spirit, and so their Player account will remain unchanged. Chat Spirits are also exempt from the 30 day minimum to apply. Chat Spirit applicants should be seen on Siliren Chat extremely often.

New Spirit Moderators use their Player Account to host their Moderator status. No secondary OOC account will be made specifically for their Moderator position.

Players on Siliren are allowed to have multiple accounts to play multiple PCs. Because of this it is important that the Moderators know what PCs potential moderators as well as current moderators own so they can be accounted for the actions of the PC. It is important to follow rules both as a PC and a moderator. Violations of rules can cause denial of a Spirit application or removal of the status of Moderator. Lying about what PC an applicant owns warrants an instant application denial.

Helping to develop the site prior to applying for a Spirit Moderator position can help an application a lot.
