Reputation
Reputation is a system that allows characters to build or lose Reputation with certain organizations or cultures. Gaining reputation allows players to spend their points to earn favours from various NPCs and progress plotlines that go well beyond just themselves while losing reputation may force characters to flee for their lives or become one of the most formidable foes in Siliren. From becoming a political figure to a major celebrity to a mafia boss to the champion of gods, players keep track of their reputation gains and losses via this system.
Reputation is earned via Milestones in the grading system, so to learn more about how to earn reputation, take a look at the Grading Guide.
Reputation Categories
Although people gain reputation with individuals, usually these individuals are a part of a larger organization or culture. When earning reputation, all reputation will be rewarded as one of the following categories unless specifically stated otherwise. Players should mark their character’s reputation score for each category separately as they all are their own separate entities.

Reputation Scale
Here is the reputation scale. How many reputation points you currently have in a particular organization determines your current title. The points listed in this scale is the minimum number of points required. So if you have 19 reputation points you are considered to be in the Neutral category, not Friendly. The same goes for -19 points.
Title | Points | Description |
---|---|---|
Prestigious | 100 | You are loved by the vast majority of the population in question. Spending points at the Prestigious level allows a character to call their following into acts of war or peace or interact personally and privately with a god. |
Revered | 80 | You are admired by a strong portion of the population in question. Spending points at the Revered level allows a character to call on their followers for things like altering laws, starting coups and revolutions, or having people fight on your behalf |
Honoured | 60 | You are honoured by a chunk of people of the population in question. Spending points at the Respected level allows a character to call on their followers to elect them into political positions, battle alongside them, start riots, or have someone sacrifice their life for yours. |
Respected | 40 | You are respected by a handful of members of the population in question. Spending points at the Respected level allows the player to call on their supporters in getting access to rare information or jobs, spying on particular people, or hide/protect you when you’re in danger. |
Friendly | 20 | You are liked by a couple of members of the population in question. Spending points at the Friendly level allows players to temporarily stay at a friend’s house for free, tag along in private affairs, or ask for big favours. |
Neutral | 0 | You are another face in the crowd with no particular reputation in either direction. The population doesn’t know you nor do they entirely care about your existence. Spending points at the neutral level allows the players to call on small favours of others they meet or have small acts of kindness be given to them on occasion like someone paying for your drink at the bar. |
Unfriendly | -20 | You are disliked by a couple of members of the population in question. Prices may be raised when you are buying items and they will watch you closely for signs of wrongdoing. They are tight-lipped about any non-public information. These people will not help you if you are in minor trouble. |
Unfavoured | -40 | You are unfavourable to a handful of people in the population in question. They will not sell or allow your admittance into their establishment. They will refuse to give any information at all and may give wrongful information. They will not help you even in your most desperate times and may even attempt to aid in your punishment if a simple opportunity arises. |
Disdained | -60 | A good chunk of the population in question holds much contempt for you. There is a price for your retrieval and people want you punished for your misdeeds. They will attempt to capture you on sight. |
Loathed | -80 | You are loathed by a strong portion of the population in question. There is a bounty for your head and these people will attempt to kill you and those you are currently with on sight. |
Abomination | -100 | You are the lowest of the low to the population in question. These people want you dead with no possibility of return. They will search far and wide with all the power in their hands to find you. There is a bounty for anyone who has or has had any sort of relationship with you and the utmost effort is put into finding and destroying you and all that you stand or care for. |
Spending Reputation
When players accumulate a certain number of points, whether positive or negative, the player can choose to either keep the points they have for later use or they can spend those points IC.
Spending positive points allow players to gain favours from the organization in question. The more points that are spent the bigger the favour the player is allowed to ask for. Each tier on the scale gives a few examples of the types of favours players can ask for, though these examples are not the only things players can request. When a character does something that requires reputation or is worthy enough to earn reputation, a Spirit will award that reputation when the thread is graded.
Spending negative points are different from spending positive points. If a player finds themselves with a negative reputation, there are two ways to resolve the problem. Either said character can do good deeds to try and gain enough reputation to where they are no longer negative or the player can spend negative points. Spending negative points enact punishment upon the character that the organization in question will feel vindicated by, allowing the said organization to forgive a certain level of bad Reputation. Each organization is different and thus the punishments or consequences will differ. The severity of the punishment will also differ depending on the tier. Spending Neutral or Unfriendly amounts of points may warrant a few weeks in jail while spending Disdained levels of points may justify losing a finger or public lashing. If a character is caught or turns themselves in and is therefore punished for their actions, Spirits will award the player in their grade, listing how many points have been spent/earned during their endevour.
Keep in mind, the Spirits determine how many points are spent with any given action. The points spent or earned varies greatly on the individual situation so players are encouraged to not list how many points they are spending in their posts. The Spirit will decide and award accordingly. If you want to know generally how much a specific action will cost before you do it, you may ask a Spirit who can give you a rough estimate, however, the mystery of not knowing the ramifications of your actions is part of the fun.
