Appearance

Standing just under 6 foot 6 inches, and weighing 305 lbs, Rhaluo Dada has a large but comforting presence. His seven inch horns are that perfect in-between of curving back over his scalp and extending straight up into the air. Both horns are thicker than average, and start at the temples. Insightful grey eyes, that do not wander much during conversation, rest below his prominent brow. Rhaluo’s skin is crimson, and his shoulder length hair is velvet black. A well-kept goatee surrounds his lips and comes to a point at his chin. His body is a bit broad for a Hellbend, yet he does not have a muscular appearance. He never seems to dress casually, as Rhaluo has been seen for years in eloquent robes of varying colors. The inner, middle, and outer pieces of his robed outfits are usually different colors from each other.

Two cuffs, one gold, and one silver with an emerald imbedded within, are wrapped around the middle portion of his right horn. A signet ring carved from a ruby with a jade embedded into, and iconography of Nilata carved into the jade, resides on the little finger of his left hand.

Personality

Always, Rhaluo seems to be smiling or at least on the verge of smiling. It is difficult to know if he is upset with you, as he speaks politely and with a pleasant tone. Never will he insult someone in their presence, and only those he trusts completely will hear him insult another person. Rhaluo has reached the point in his life where he is more interested in aiding others in pursuing their goals. His passions are magical study and exploration. Like minded individuals are people that Rhaluo will seek out, while all others are opportunities to hear entertaining stories. While he likes to try and assist others, regardless of their interests being magical or not, Rhaluo denies that he has chosen favorites, which is something he absolutely does.

Rhaluo is often described as an optimist when in reality he makes decisions that are practical, even when its not obvious. He is good at being able to share just enough information to keep a person interested, while not being obvious that there is more that he isn’t telling. One thing that Rhaluo despises having to do is coerce a person, and thus, goes to considerable lengths to either persuade or entice someone else into action.

Background

Born to one of the most powerful families in all of Avakaron, there were always certain expectations that Rhaluo was expected to meet. Though he was the second child, Rhaluo and his sister, Ruaganad, became apprentice casters at a young age. Neither of them demonstrated even average talent for a few years, which was well below the Dada family standards. Rhaluo’s father, who was the patriarch of the Dada family, began taking drastic measures to coerce both his children into becoming exceptional casters. Rhaluo, who was doing well with the academic aspects of magic, was forced to undergo trials where, if he failed, his sister would be physically harmed. There were alternative trails where he competed against his sister, and the winner was spared both physical and magical abuse. Rhaluo was tempered into an exceptional caster by this, but his sister was not.

At the age of seventeen, Rhaluo acquired a teaching position at the Ministry of Casters. With full access to their records, Rhaluo began to experiment with a few of the more dangerous spells that the Ministry did not disclose to the public. His unusual hours, and unique interests caught the attention of a powerful caster by the name of Ozalud Hasragi, who shared similar interests. Under Ozalud’s tutelage, Rhaluo grew into a position to be able to teach a couple of spells on behalf of the Ministry when he was twenty-two. With all of these accomplishments, Rhaluo’s father was still displeased with his children, and had begun to make arrangements to ostracize them both from the Dada family. Later that season, Rhaluo’s father suffered a massive stroke, and was no longer functional enough to run the affairs of the Dada family.

At the age of twenty-three, Rhaluo was named patriarch of the Dada family, in the year 291. Rhaluo married and had three children of his own, and there had been rumors of Rhaluo having another child with another woman, but such rumors were quickly forgotten. Rhaluo grew to teaching several different spells at the Ministry, as well as spending a lot of time researching the discovery of new spells. But after twenty years of experimentation, Rhaluo never announced a successful discovery. He retired from his research just as word came that the Lysium Military was seeking to train some soldiers in the ways of magic. Curious to see how they’d grow, Rhaluo used some clout to get himself appointed as the liaison between the Lysium Military and the Ministry of Casters.
